I inspected this “like-new” Cat 312D2 excavator at the dealer’s yard today, and its condition is easily the best I’ve seen recently. The machine looks as if it had just been purchased or had just come out of long-term storage; it still has protective film in place—plastic covers on the seats and red delivery tags hanging everywhere—and all the filter elements are genuine Cat parts (which is great to see), while the internal hydraulic system looks as pristine as the day it left the factory.There’s not an oil mist all over the engine bay, no oil leaks back on frame rails and it seems there’s some dust and dirt down under the oil pump and valve body, but I’m betting on the dust and dirt, there doesn’t appear to be any leaks unless they are very small and I know they do exist.
I can’t see the pins, but they seemed like they would be tight. No large scratches or dents on the boom or stick. There aren’t beat up bucket teeth missing, and the bucket itself is not beat to hell. Clean boom and stick hydraulic cylinders-not much of a surprise as equipment sits around but really truly surprising around the rod seals where you would normally see this a first.Basically left in their original condition, they threw a CAT mat in there and all that is still covered so they can’t figure nothing out as far as how many hours have been on this engine or if there’s a reading on the hour meter through that plastic, but they’re quite clean so I’m thinking this is a brand new spec stock or maybe got a few shakedown hours and parked. Clean Glass, Solid ROPS cage, no dents not too many repairs that I could see. But, I’m not seeing any red flags here that would make me shy away as long as you’re paying a reasonable price for what this thing has done as long as it isn’t something that hasn’t been worked in the meantime.

Picked up one 2025 CAT 320D2 for a highway expansion job we just won out in Texas. Was worried about the hours being rolled back because you see that everywhere now but our shop foreman plugged in the laptop and ECM matched the dash exactly. Good solid iron.

My guys have been running the Volvo EC210D we got off here for about 400 hours now. Zero downtime. The inspection report noted a slight weep on the bucket cylinder which I appreciated Equipment auditors on the machdealers platform telling me upfront. Repacked the cylinder for $150 and it's been making us money ever since.

Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
