2019 CAT 349D2 L Large Crawler Excavator

Today, when I moved this machine to the demonstration site, it started to drizzle from time to time, making the situation much worse than it was today. I walked around the site once, all the mud and had to hose down to see the mud caked pads under the oil fittings and hose ends, no fresh oil trails (wait let me check again) Yeah dry, was dusty from demo site, but the oil fittings and hose ends weren’t showing any fresh oil trails, so dry. CAT 349D2L with the c13 engine, the hour meter is set at 5626, which is pretty low for this size machine to be honest! I cleaned some of the staining around couple fittings and after 10 minutes you can tell the difference which is staining around fittings that is old, but not leaking.

Tracks are caked in mud so wear percentage on the pads themselves is hard to nail down without a proper cleaning and measuring the shoe height, didn’t have the tools with me today, but sag looked normal, no excessive slop in the chain when i ran it back and forth. rock guards are on both sides which tells me this machine worked demo or riprap conditions for a while, matches the site it’s on now actually.frame’s got surface rust in a couple spots on the upper structure, nothing structural, just paint gone and moisture sitting on bare metal, wipe it down and hit it with primer and it’s a non-issue. bolts on the counterweight and a few spots on the undercarriage have surface corrosion, again cosmetic. paint is scratched and faded on the boom and upper deck, typical for a machine this age doing dirt work, not a red flag by itself. couldn’t get a good look inside the cab in these shots so can’t speak to interior condition, need another set of pics or need to be there in person, that’s on me.  engine sounds clean, no knock, no blue smoke out the stack. hydraulic system runs quiet, no whining under load when i cycled the boom up and down a few times. wiring’s a little messy back by the frame, one loose wire tagged with yellow tape, not dangerous just sloppy from a past repair. would want undercarriage measured properly before final pricing but nothing here says walk away, just budget for teeth and maybe tracks depending on what the gauge comes back at.
