Tracked this SANY SY245H Pro out at the yard today and tracks are caked with mud so had to scrap around to get a good look at it, what I’m seeing is about 60-65% is about all that would be left on the undercarage, maybe stretching to 70 if you’re optimistic but I wouldn’t bank on that. Pins and bushings are worn, idler’s got scratches all over and the sprocket teeth are full of dried clay (from whatever job this thing just came from). Rollers spin but are dirty as hell these and can’t even see if there is play when they are not clean and the site supervisor was yelling today to move another excavator over, so no time for that. Not bad track pads, there’s still some meat on them and just a few places the chains are loose, but not like it needs to be addressed right away, typical wear on a machine that has been used.
Noticed the engine cover was popped and it’s dusty and dry, except the swing motor section, I’ll check it again, it’s the same, nothing new but old grime. All hydraulic lines are in good condition, fittings are not wet, cylinders are not sweating and the hydraulic pump housing is clean. The surface rust seems to be on the manifold and it’s not wearing away anything. Trapped dirt in seat and under pressure on the floor mats, inside of car teetering on being trashed, must have been dragged halfway across the jobsite. Can control, joysticks aren’t sloppy. Unfortunately, it was cloudy when I went in to see it and the lighting wasn’t ideal for taking pictures but what I can.On the boom, paint has faded and at the bottom of the counterweight, paint has peeled off and there is some rust visible, but not in a serious way just cosmetic neglect. Whereas Boom’s seem to have scratches but no cracking which is good – they would have had welding repairs if they had cracks! Both sides have decals that are still easily visible. Checking all boom joints and stick, there was no play whatsoever when I rolled it through. Swing bearing has end play. Machine digs well. Overall it is a labored, but not abused excavator that may require attention to the undercarriage at some time and likely a hose wash if the buyer desires to maintain the machine without any unpleasant surprises, but as far as the important stuff (engine, hydraulics, etc), it appears to be strong for the hours.

Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
