2018 HYUNDAI R220-9S Crawler Excavator

Engine started cold, no white smoke, no hesitation and sounds clean, but only went under load for about 5 minutes as the guy in the yard was rushing me to get it to the polls.The engine inspection revealed no oil leaks. Undercarriage is dry, I mean REALLY dry, no new oil on the swing bearing or the pump housing, wait let me check my notes just wanted to be sure it’s old dirt, I saw a bit of grime buildup on the hydraulic pump but… in any case. There are no pins on the boom or stick that are wobbly on me; it was next to the ground and I cycled it a few times, there was no looseness and the cylinders extended smoothly with no jerky or stopping out.

Also, mentioned that the Cab’s a mess but that’s not on the machine as they had wrapped it in plastic was it like just off a container, and had red shop rags on the controls, dust all around the floor mat. The HVAC vents were okay – seems no cracks in the glass, door hinges are in good condition – I could not check for tears on the seats as they were covered. Not having an operator’s manual in the seat pocket is a major bummer since it doesn’t offer me any insight into service or hours unless the dealer has those records. Surface rust on the welds on the boom (no cracks visible without getting under the boom with the light) and the usual paint on the counterweight.I just checked the boom and bucket pins, and they’re brand new with absolutely no wear. The lighting was excellent today, so I was able to inspect them very clearly. When I kicked it around I had no grinding delay in swinging the motor, swing motor cycled just fine. No tensioner tracks were sagging and tensioners were not overly tightened. Didn’t change any filters nor check the oil levels because they did not allow me to drain anything, but from an external inspection, this excavator appears to have undergone a complete refurbishment.  Runs fine. No surprises.
