Product Description
Today I inspected a Hyundai HX220HD excavator, a machine in excellent condition. I really like machines like this; perfect performance, low price—it’s the perfect time to snag a bargain! Engine is clean, no oil weeping around the hood panels as well, no oil misting in the engine bay, old dust and dirt in the hydraulic pump section – let me have a look at that swing motor housing again… no weeping there either, just old dust and dirt build up. The filters appear to be recent and someone has updated them.
I was now surprised to see that cab is quite clean for a Chinese market unit; no cigarette burns on the seat, controls responded goodly when cycled, monitor booted up with no errors. All around glass is intact and front windshield, door seals appear to be in good condition and are not torn. One thing that really caught my eye is the swing bearing, I had someone spin the house when I looked at the turntable, and there was no grinding or hesitation, this is one that I had a lot of trouble rebuilding so if there’s none, that’s one good sign. Faded counter weight paint – no gouges or impact damage (this is indicative of tip overs or rough handling of the lathe).When looking at the hydraulic oil’s sight glass inside the tank it isn’t milky or black; someone is taking care of this. Surface rust on exposed steel found during the inspection (it was humid during the inspection and there appeared to be nothing structural). An overall pretty good working machine/Not a cream puff/Not beaten to death either: That is, an iron that will make money for you if you take care of it and don’t think it’s brand new. There’s no smoke upon start-up, no hunting of the engine on start, no whining hydraulics, and no cavitation. Good machine. Buy it.

The inspection report noted a slight weep on the bucket cylinder which I appreciated Equipment auditors on the machdealers platform telling me upfront. Repacked the cylinder for $150 and it's been making us money ever since.

We run a basalt quarry site in Central Ethiopia, we needed a 36 ton heavy excavator that can run 24/7 loading rock. Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
