Around noon today, I inspected this machine in an open area. The sun was glaring, and several people were having lunch nearby. A foul odor permeated the air all day, making it quite distracting. However, I eventually found the Mitsubishi SY245H.
Bucket teeth stripped the paint rather well, all 5 are still there; a surprise they don’t show any cracks or bends, boom rod on the cylinder is chrome plated fine; I could see no scoring or wet weeping of the seals. stick has paint stripped back, saw no cracks or bends in it through surface rust over most of the face but I was surprised, boom rod over cylinder chrome looks okay also, no scoring or wet weeping at the seals that I could see. I looked under that the first time and didn’t see any staining, was there any moisture or dripping? nothing, was like that for a long time I guess, but that seal is on borrowed time it’s on borrowed time, if it does now the poor guy that buys it, it would be a real problem.Engine bay – both side doors were popped, air filter is a donaldson round canister, checked the air filter and had been in there quite some time but nothing collapsed or torn, radiator and condenser – smoke had built up around where all fittings turn to air filter, bottle of smoke in oil cooler under radiator and best thing I saw all day was the oil cooler room was dry out which means the oil filter is way over due to be changed or maybe the fuel quality is poor, hoses – no chafing detected, fittings seemed ok. So, I pulled it up and Display was showing low fuel warning active meter was showing it as 5530H and work mode was S1.

Picked up one 2025 CAT 320D2 for a highway expansion job we just won out in Texas. Was worried about the hours being rolled back because you see that everywhere now but our shop foreman plugged in the laptop and ECM matched the dash exactly. Good solid iron.

The inspection report noted a slight weep on the bucket cylinder which I appreciated Equipment auditors on the machdealers platform telling me upfront. Repacked the cylinder for $150 and it's been making us money ever since.

Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
