2020 Volvo EC220 Medium Crawler Excavator

The first thing I checked when inspecting this Volvo EC220 was the chassis, looked at the bottom and guys, I did not find one pool anywhere under the frame; they had no hook wear on the cannot see teeth on the sprocket, the grousers, they still had sharp edges, and no weeping around the seals on the track rolls; and then I looked at the final drives, and they were clean. Pins are tight. No play.

Opened it up and the volvo inline 6 is there, painted teal (that’s how it is painted out of the factory), and no oil in sight at the valve cover gasket or dripping from the oil pan, the turbo looks dry as well — oh wait, I rechecked the fuel pump area again because I thought that I saw some oil impurities on one of the fuel fittings, it’s just of the dust, no fresh oil at the filter or the oil pump body. Both fuel canisters appear to be quite fresh and the donaldson-style secondary separator is not discoloured which would indicate it hasn’t been subjected to bad fuel through it. Some surface rust is found on the heat shield of the exhaust manifold, this is not a concern as the exhaust manifold is made of iron and provides some heat cycling, and therefore is expected to have some surface rust. Cab is clean. Still on both joysticks and the travel levers and the seat still has the factory plastic on the headrest, no mud on the ground under the upper house, no grease on any of the controls, all lines are spiral-wrapped and show no signs of cracking or bulging, and the swivel joint is totally dry. The teeth for the Buckets haven’t been turned yet, and are still a full profile, five tip set-up with a straight bolt on cutting edge. For a 22 ton machine that’s as “clean” as they ever come through a trading yard. NO smoke on idle and slees nice and smooth, walks at full travel without any clunking from the ring.
