Product Description
Today I test-drove this Komatsu PC200 excavator at the site. The tracks were covered in about two inches of mud. The sprockets rotated normally; although there was some wear, the teeth weren’t fully rounded yet. At a glance, all the teeth in the cutting edge are worn back about 1 1/2″ from the factory – whether rock digging or demo work, this is honest-to-goodness and will need to be turned or replaced in a few hundred hours if finish work is being done, but the stick and boom pins take less play and that is something.
The seat is in fine shape, no rips and the joysticks are not sloppy, glass window is all there and no cracks (door seals look dry but they’re not cracked, but are stiff, and of course the cab is dirty, this is expected, as mud was tracked in all over the floor mat and dust was tracked on the console but). Removed engine cover, and it is cleaner than I thought, no oil around the oil pump area or the valve bank, no hoses dragging on the ground (albeit it is a bit dirty), the fuel filter housing is clean, I ran my hand under a few hose fittings and coulnt find any oil there, if anything is dripping, it will have been when the engine was hot so I didn’t find it. The engine does show some dust buildup on top, but there is no soaking or exhaust pipe is sooty (which is to be expected), though there are no blue smoke stains or anything that would easily indicate blowby. Hydraulic pump area is the same, little old grime but not any fresh drips and I looked under the swing motor area that was dry as well. There are no cracks in faded but solid counterweight paint and there is the typical joint wear where paint comes off boom and stick (surface only).There was a varied day during the inspection; it was overcast and windy; I did not get to see it under load, but the operator mentioned that it doesn’t smoke and that the engine would start, even after being cooled down.

Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
