Product Description
It’s a sany SY245H, has been operated by No.2 Bureau of China Railway — not in a yard, it has been on a job site so that’s important, because these things get looked after when they are on big jobs or they get molested by whoever has access to the key. Tracking is completely full of mud and unable to give a clean percentage on the wear of your grouser, but what I could see came to about half life maybe a little better, no lost links anywhere on the shoes either, no frames were cracked anywhere I put my hands on the frame, idlers spin free and undercarriage frame looks straight. Again it is very stripped bare on the left rear but there is nothing structural in it, it is just counterweight paint that has peeled and protrusions of rust and paint peeling chips are evident. Other areas such as the body paint on the side panels and hood have scratches, the story of any machine that has been bounced around a few job sites.
Radiator pack intact, fins not crushed and fluid in coolant overflow bottle. It’s carrying a heavy surface rust layer on the exhaust manifold and I noticed that old coolant hose from the engine on the right side has orange staining on the exterior, though when I pressed on the hose, it doesn’t seem like it was old splashes or age on the rubber since it didn’t feel spongy but I would replace it before winter. Below the swing motor base I was seeing greasy staining on the deck plate – Yeah I went back and specifically checked the main hydraulic pump again, no drip, no stream, just the ‘wet’ film that you do see when a shaft seal begins to sweat’ but there was greasy staining around the pump body and at the port fittings. Mud on floor mat and rubber is thin in operator foot area – whoever ran this never did take his/her boots off once. I pushed the controls by hand and there was no play; Seat fabric is holding and joysticks seem tight. Boom and arm cylinder rods appear squeaky clean, no scare marks seen and bucket teeth all appear to be worn but not missing. Bottom line – a working machine, not show piece – seals need monitoring, counterweight paint is rough but iron is solid and it digs.
