2021 SDLG E680F Crawler Excavator

I went out to inspect the excavator today, and the weather was really hot; the sun almost made me dizzy. This is an SDLG E680F parked in the supplier’s yard. Engine bay is dry, no new oil on oil pan, just old dust and some dark staining on pump casting looks like it dried out long time ago – checked valve block fittings, got some rust on one of the valve body connectors but didn’t find any wet drips or on floor pan (old is not active). Fuel filter is white and clean – some indication that the filter may have been replaced. It’s the same thing with oil filter. Still not trying to take it apart, but from what I could see, there is no PCV gunker, valve cover is dry, hoses don’t show any leaks, and the injectors are dry.

It’s the under carriage that will reveal the age. Track pads are worn, the grousers are probably 20-30 percent worn off, you may want to take into account getting a set of grousers before you get this back out in the field or you will be replacing them out there, and no one wants to do that. Overall the track has rust through and all of the pins and bushes have wear and sag on the upper track indicating that the tension should be adjusted at least. Rollers on bottom are full to the brim with hardened dirt and dried mud – Let me look at my notes on that again – YES that could be the weeping seal – you won’t know from the picture only. The same is true for the sprocket and idler – caked solid. The Carrier roller appeared to be in good shape but was dirty.The bucket is a FLAT cutting edge (no teeth) cutting edge is worn down pretty good, boom and arm are dirty but to me looked straight, no obvious crack or bent plate (walked around) on the attachment. Hydraulics (no signs of scoring I could see and chrome was showing on the boom rod). There are no visible blown fittings and the hoses are connected externally on the boom and arm and are dusty. It is enclosed cab, glass appeared to be intact with no cracks. One work light on the roof of the house.  Some spotting of rust and chips are seen on body paint of lower front and counterweight area (no major or structural damage). Structural integrity of upper structure and roof are there.  roller seals variable disposal of this lotion. This is a known cost up front – Track Replacement. I think that, instead of being abused and hidden, Machine was hard at work, and parked.
