2022 SANY SY365H Crawler Excavator

I went to the supplier’s site today to inspect this excavator. When I arrived, the engine compartment cover was already open, so I inspected the engine compartment first. The big yellow SANY SY365H in the back row amidst all the cats and hyundais. Even though Engine is technically a used machine it just looks very clean almost TOO clean, and yet that doesn’t matter to me. No oil is dripping from the valve cover nor are there any new drips around the valve rod, pump or adjacent to the filter housing and the color of the block is light gray. Hydraulic lines are all black corrugated type, lines have no water in them, seals are in good shape (no cracks) on exterior black sheathing. What I have done is run my hand down the stick along the main boom cylinders and pins are tight, there is no play of the stick, the bucket teeth are worn down about 10 percent which is normal wear and tear and nothing to be concerned about. There are some gouges towards the cutting edge but bucket has no cracks in the welds or back plate.

Spending one’s time undercover, that is where I was most of the time as the money tends to be hidden under cover.  No seized bearings which I could hear, idlers and rollers spin free and are black.There should be no bent track frames or any cracks in the idler mounts. Sprockets are slightly worn on the teeth, but not hooked. Probably. I think seat looks good; couldn’t get in as it’s locked and another sales guy was talking to another party, Cab from outside looks like it is fine, no cracks in Dash either. A camera or similar is affixed at the top of a cab’s roof; all rear panel grille louvers are straight. Well counter weight paint is pretty good, there are no big gouges or rust blooming through. The owner’s manual didn’t come with the seat for whatever reason, of which no one reads these days I suppose.In general the paint is very good, a few rubs with scuff marks on boom but no problem with it so far, no dents on main frame. Inspected swing bearings by holding the house up and noting any space between the bearings and any grinding noise—there was no play in the bearings and no grinding noise. This one is not entrenched in gravel in a dealer yard, so there is no mud or job site junk on it helping in the inspection process, but it does mean that I can’t determine how hard it’s actually been run. No smoking from the stack, and no burning oil or coolant odour in the engine bay – it should smell like diesel and dust not burning oil and coolant. Tracks are not run at a list (tied over). When extended, boom looks to be full length out and hydraulics seem to be holding when parked in the up position.
