Today I visited a site about an hour’s drive from the city center to see this Sumitomo SH360HD excavator. It was raining heavily that day, and the windows fogged up badly, but I still managed to see the information I needed. When you start the engine it’s clean with no white smoke or unusual noises over the noise of the rain, hydraulics response is nice and smooth when cycling the boom and the stick no jerk or hesitation which is a sign of pump problems or dirty oil. The rollers spin freely, there was no signs of any wobble nor any welding done on the bottom frame which is a good thing on any Chinese based models.
LCD is bright, no sloppy joysticks… wait let me look under the hood again… yeah just looked under the hood again, it’s dusty as hell in there but when I wiped it with my finger it was old grease and dirt—there doesn’t appear to be fresh oil anywhere seeping out, so I’m calling that “dusty, but fine” for now. Hoses are in good shape (no cracks or bulges), the red intake elbow is solid and the lines to the boom cylinders aren’t dry rotting, or weeping, which you see many of the machines parked outside in the sun suffer. These all lead to the conclusion that the bearings on the stick pins are no where near wore out as there is no slop in any of the stick pins when you shake the arm, bucket teeth are worn down but not broken off so they will need flipping soon but that isn’t a deal killer, and there’s also no bending of the bucket teeth.Two items come to mind: There is a red ribbon tied around the cab frame and a step up into the cab of this thing is VERY slippery – all that mud (time to take off shoes for access ladies). I could not see any leaks anywhere under the machine or around the pump area, but they don’t look very clean, so it could be more.There weren’t any leaks I could see anywhere under the machine or around the pump area, but all things are so covered in grime that it is difficult to say for sure without a pressure wash first. Machine digs fine. Swing is smooth.

The inspection report noted a slight weep on the bucket cylinder which I appreciated Equipment auditors on the machdealers platform telling me upfront. Repacked the cylinder for $150 and it's been making us money ever since.

Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
