2022 Volvo EC480DL Crawler Excavator

This machine is EC480DL, volvo big iron – walked this this morning and the first thing I’d always check on such a big machine is under the chassis – triple-grouser steel track shoes (good wear – maybe 5-10% worn out), worn track shoes – hopefully not running on hardpack concrete all day – good contact area on track – link surface-rust per usual on these site machines, track isn’t worn flat yet, good track shoes – no wobbles in front return rollers – etc. Digs well. Pins are tight. Not a structural problem as heavy concrete and mortar has been filled between the links from site but washed off.

Dark spot at the hydraulic pump shaft seal and at the fittings, I kind of guess that maybe it was weeping somewhere, I went back and pulled my light again, looked at hydraulic filter and fuel filter (dual bowl with integral water separator, bottom of fuel filter’s bowl clear and dry, No water at the bottom anywhere.) Nothing–no black smoke, no blue smoke from the exhaust stack.  glass is seeing the light of day, seat has after-market covers of red quilt with yellow embroidered around VOLVO. doesn’t have any mud or debris worked into the floor mat; never had patchment torn through it. Inspected the underside of the swing bearing area and all the rotary joint hoses were found to be dry and there was no staining on the underside of the sleeving area. I can see red ribbons still tied there on the cab pillar from delivery day; this tells me that this machine has not moved around very much since delivery.
