The inspection site was incredibly muddy, and a XCMG XE135D excavator was there, the engine on this is actually a Yanmar and it’s honest, I would rather have some of the other machines built here with a Yanmar engine rather than some of the home built engines they find to stuff in these Chinese spec outfits. Starts well cold, idles very well, no smoke or other funny smoke coming out the stack. Just checked the rollers on this XE135D, it has been operating but they are spinning freely as it would if it were in the yard. The 135D unit equipped with the Yanmar engine is the better model as XCMG mid size tracked excavator – it has been used in preference to the Chinese power-plants they used to fit these machines. On the plus side, the engine compartment was open, and I poked around there – no fresh oil weeping from the valve cover, hoses do look rather old (it’s not yet cracked, but they will be soon enough), radiator fins are amazingly clean for the overall dirtiness level of the machine. Using the Donaldson Fan Setup, everything you need. The red silicone intake hose was aftermarket, somebody did put it in at some point so this means that they were keeping up their maintenance or they had a failure (may not be the case, or they could be new) hard to say.
There is no control slop, seat fabric stained, and controls function perfectly (what little I did). There’s typical paint wear as is usual for a boom and stick, a couple scratches on the counterweight due to it banging against something etc. An aftermarket red hydraulic quick coupler on the stick in addition, comes in handy if you have multiple buckets, the one on the stick can still be replaced if it’s worn, just not currently.
