Before coming to inspect it today, I called the operator to tell him to drive the excavator to the yard. He started the engine compartment in advance, and I checked the engine oil. The engine was in good condition, with no obvious oil leaks, no oil accumulation under the valve cover, no leaks from the main oil seal, and no cracks or leaks in the hoses. I’m finding my mounted up top muffler’s silverish type of canister hoses are red rubber with black sections, and no splits holding them up.
I’m demonstrating with this unit how hydraulics overall shines, if you care about that stuff – this swing motor is the red block type, the fittings are dry, not evidence of any recent nursing on it and no evidence of other recent torque marks on parts means nobody’s playing games here and looking at problems, boom circuit same thing, the parts are red and the fittings are dry. I was able to see all the black rubber hosing in the frame; it was clean and has no cracks or abrasion down to the braiding, and no zip ties or hose clamps apparently doing duty – something I see every day on tired machines. Cabin is dirty, floor has a piece of cardboard or plywood with dried mud on it, seat has half of the factory plastic on it but is dirty, joysticks are there and don’t have a smooth surface. No real damage. Functional dirt.We don’t see any bent metal, no stress cracks around the pin bosses, boom and stick are black and no cracks do we see, and counterweight is black, no cracks. The body panels are being held up with paint.

Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
