Product Description
This is a rare Volvo EC480 excavator in excellent condition. The operator had moved it to the middle of the yard before I unloaded it, making it very convenient for me to inspect. Engine opens clean – Volvo engine looks like it has not been beat up – No-use of oil on inside of the hood, which usually is a sign of good behaviour, Fuel filters are white not that brown colour seen on cars that were not serviced regularly enough. Some of the hydraulic hoses still have the reinforced sleeves on them, and are not cracked and not weeping, most operators would just run this thing right into the ground with no one ever maintaining it – swing bearing is greasing out of the fittings. There is no gouges or scrapes that would indicate the paint was backed repeated so that the counter weight would clean paint paint was in the system.
Cab’s has not been used a lot as the seat is still in factory plastic, plastic beading still intact on the wind window no chips and the top orange safety cage is still untouched on the glass above, there is a bit of floor board in the floor. Operator controls: red Volvo control setup – no slop in controls (moved controls). Let me look at the swing motor area…yeah nothing pooled under there, just dust – which is what it should be, all the cylinder rods are dry – I didn’t see either scoring or pitting – and seals aren’t leaking. No wetness.Hydraulic reservoir sight glass was clean, radiator fins did not have any mud or other debris around them, indicating that it was not doing demo or real dirty trenching jobs, most likely just excavation or site preparation. Bucket teeth will wear evenly and be without any cracks in bucket or stick weld. There was not an operator’s manual that was in the cab pocket, however, that’s not uncommon. No smoke out the pipe upon engine start, tracks work smoothly both ways and slew ring swing is quiet (no grinding or clumping). This is one of the cleanest used Volvos of the year, the majority of which come beat to heck but this one must have low mileage or been a careful owner.

The inspection report noted a slight weep on the bucket cylinder which I appreciated Equipment auditors on the machdealers platform telling me upfront. Repacked the cylinder for $150 and it's been making us money ever since.

Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
