2021 SANY SY245H Crawler Excavator

I tried out this SANY 245H excavator this morning, and to be honest, it’s in excellent condition overall! The seat is so worn that you can tell this thing has been pounded in and out all day long for months, it’s got some mud in it but the front glass does not have any mud stains, and the joysticks are tight and not slop, which means that the pilot wasn’t careless.By the looks of the valve cover, the engine is a cummins qsb, and the donaldsons air filter is round radial, it is oriented correct and the housing itself has no damage to it — I have seen people put these in the air filter housing upside down and wondered why the engine was eating all the dirt. There’s no oil leaking out of the lines, no new oil drips on the ground, no cracked hoses, nothing to give a clue that, as a whole, she won’t start cold. This is a rusted exhaust manifold, not the surface rust but good old rust that had got hot enough for good longterm operation and had started to rust that cast iron good. That’s just age.

That’s where I worked for the most part; undercarriage. Few changes other than track frame paint is missing in places, and white primer can be seen peeking out in places on both track sides and a large mud pack has accumulated in the track side rollers and idler zones…I went back to the lower frame photos again being more careful and underneath, everything is dry, no new seepage around the travel motors or around the roller seals, mud packing that is old and not new leaks. That’s fine. No pooling.Hydraulic side’s general appearance is fair. Main control valve is actually rusted around it but not red with a unique indicator around the ports to the valve indicating that it’s been there for a while and it hasn not been bleeding anything about it unless there was active bleeding. Inter ring out of alignment on outer ring with same story on base flange and all bolts (mixing with the motor). The outside of the pilot filter canister is dry, the return filter is the same, there’s no staining on the fittings and hoses have no cracking or ballooning anywhere I can see. Cooling pack has some fines plugged in the radiator core, dust and various debris are lodged in the radiator, but not entirely plugged so a blowout is recommended for the radiator prior to running hard in summer heat. There are 2 batteries, disconnected knob (red) present and accounted for. The bottom line – this isn’t a show piece, it’s not a showpiece undercarriage, it’s not any of the cosmetics, it has hours on it, walk away? Nope. Have the hour meter verified, and make your own research.
