I just inspected this Sany 365H excavator this morning. Around 10 a.m., the sun started shining, and the whole site was filled with dust… The situation wasn’t ideal, but there was nothing we could do. First, the engine bay with isuzu inline 6 said “coolant level is fine”, opened up the valve cover, no signs of seep all around the gasket line, no signs of cracks or anything blown on the exhaust manifold, the turbo looks nice and all contents of the engine bay smelled like dust and not oil, which is good. When she idled she didn’t smoke. Engine runs fine.
Both doors were open, main pump is the big tandem black axial-piston unit, all the fittings were dry, no wet shine anywhere on any of the lines, around the manifold block, there was dark staining on the floor of the compartment, but I crouched down and ran a finger around — wait, checked it again closer, okay, as long as it hasn’t been opened, none of the lines showed any wet shine, floor was just the old compacted dust and the dirt that came in over time, no wet rings anywhere around any of the fittings, no fresh oil. All hoses look snug and hose rubber appears to be safe with no visible cracking, return filter canister, and fuel filter are both appearing to have been serviced at some point with no swelling or any drips at any of the bases on either of them. The front idler is in good shape and no apparent flat spots on the drive sprocket teeth, pins appear tight. No play.This is cab side, and while the owner did not seem to be a neat person, the grammer seat has a barnacle grow on the Sany break on the leftover bolster it was ok; some production work will require a new set of teeth though as the tips will be worn. Rods were visually inspected and cylinder rods were found clean – no scoring, no weeping at the seals were found from the ground level. I can’t say that there was anything that terrified me about this machine today.

Found a used KOMATSU PC 350 on here, after 3 weeks non stop continuous operation on site, engine temperature stayed normal all the time. That machine takes so much beating on our rocky ground, no issues at all. Exactly the tough workhorse we needed.
