2022 SDLG E6205F Crawler Excavator

This excavator, an SDLG E6205F, has a January 2022 build and it’s at about 3 years old and the hours are at 2515 on the gauge, engine starts up as soon as I turn the key and when it reaches 888 rpm on mode I2, there’s no limping, no knock, no blue smoke out the stack, the turbo is essentially quieter and does not surge, so I would say that the top end and rings are probably pretty good. Looked in hydraulic pump bay and these eaton winner hoses are rated for 160 bar and a max of 19mm – all the fittings that I inspected were dry with only dust caked on. Dry seals.

Wait, let me have a second look—there’s an oily, yellowish smudge way down by the right travel motor and down by the bottom edge of the track frame. Looked at it twice. Nothing new on the ground below, no trail entering from a single fitting, only a dry residue which finds its way in the mud and rust. Travel motor seal leak (occurred once a while ago), could be bleed from track adjuster. I wouldn’t want to risk not losing oil today but if I put it in and ran loaded for an hour and then checked under it I would sign.The underside of the track frame is all bare steel—no paint, links in good shape no visible cracks, the underside of the shoes has a ton of rust packed into each grouser—tooth profile should be sharp but isn’t anymore or at least and-that’s-helmet, I’d say about 60-65% life in these, maybe stretching to 70% on a good day. That’s normal for sitting in the red clay mud, but from here corrosion begins to eat away from there quicker! Went thru three/4 of the bucket is all surface rust yes, I found no cracks but the cutting edge is worn not cracked through. Deep gouges in paint job down to bare metal on right side body panels – structurally sound however, this will pit when left outside long period of time. Glass on the cab is good no cracks. AC was not tested and was reported as reading OFF (cold) on the monitor, don’t know if that’s good or just on the verge of going out on AC and no refrigerant, I could not tell from a cold inspection. The operator left what appeared to be a takeout container under the right console, but it’s not connected to anything mechanical and yet. This machine operates 2515 hours without a problem. It is a second-hand machine which is for use. It’s priced properly and is therefore a sensible choice to make.
