2022 SDLG E6205F Crawler Excavator

Examineed this machine today SDLG E6205F, on a solidized dirt mound, what appeared to be a small demolition site with all walls concrete block enclosures and steel panel fencing behind the machine. Her hours were at 2,421 — that’s at the low end for a 4 year old 20 ton class machine but perhaps she has had so much easy work or downtime… Engine was popped open and there was no oil on the oil tray floor, coolant expansion tank had expansion popper cap on both virtually dry, all hose connections around the expansion tank had just dust. We didn’t see anything wet on the outside surfaces of the deutz based block (BF6M2012 for the spec sheet) and there didn’t appear to be any fresh looking oil on the under of the filter cover or around the oil filter.

All sumitomo riko hose, all 35MPa duty, 1/4 NP fittings for pilot lines and I checked the manifold block lines twice to make sure – well, open, no wet sheen on any line or fitting, one line was still factory red on the dust cap meaning that no auxiliary circuit has ever been opened. I didn’t see any cracking or abrasion in the hose runs accessible under the access panel. Surface rust and oxidation is occurring on the manifold in the exhaust stack (cosmetic, but it’s being pointed out by someone. The undercarriage tracks (dried mud absolutely packed tight all around and I couldn’t tell 1/8 wear on the pads, sprocket teeth or roller flanges) was everything I needed to do before I can call the darn thing. Arm and stick has a stripe of green biological staining, most probably algae, on the lower part alluding to the machine (most likely during storage) having been in a wet place for a length of time.From what you can see in the meter shot, nothing looked out of place in the cab interior and floor mat had mud tracked in, but nothing appeared to be torn or broken from the “front” of the controls. The climate control was OFF, but I didn’t use it so I can’t assess whether the air conditioning blows cool air or not. Both battery and coolent indicators lit up in the instrument – this is a normal, pre-start procedure and not a fault light. Oh, and the operator’s manual wasn’t in the pocket in the seat. Two warning lights. The iron overall appears as if this machine has been used with no beating (no smoke in any of the pictures I saw, boom geometry seems to be straight, no slop that I could see in the close-ups of the bucket pins, etc.).  That’s my read.
